Q: How do I change my CD-RW drive settings with Windows XP integrated support?

A: Microsoft® Windows® XP can change settings for the CD-R/RW drive such as Enable CD recording, the location of the image file, write speed, and automatically ejecting CDs after writing. To configure the CD-R/RW drive settings, follow these steps.

  1. Open My Computer.

    • From the Windows XP default Start menu, click My Computer.
    • If using the classic Start menu, double-click the My Computer icon on your desktop.

  2. In the My Computer window, click the CD-RW drive. From the File menu, click Properties.

  3. In the CD Drive Properties dialog box, click the Recording tab.

  4. On the Recording tab, the CD recording can be disabled, the drive for the image file can be selected, the write speed can be changed, and automatically ejecting the CD can be disabled.

  5. When finished making changes in the CD Drive Properties dialog box, click OK.

  6. In the My Computer window, from the File menu, click Close.
