How do I enable System Restore?

Use the following steps to enable System Restore in Windows® XP.

  1. Open Control Panel.

    • From the Windows XP default Start menu, click Control Panel.
    • From the Windows XP classic Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel .

  2. In Control Panel, open the System Properties window.

    • If the computer is in Category View, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System.
    • If the computer is in Classic View, double-click the System icon.

  3. In the System Properties window, click the System Restore tab.

  4. On the System Restore tab, click to clear the Turn off system restore or Turn off system restore on all drives check box, and then click Apply.

  5. In the System Restore dialog box, click Yes.

  6. In the System Properties window, click OK.
