- Open Control Panel.
- On the Windows XP default Start menu, click Control Panel.
- On the Windows XP classic Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- In Control Panel, open the System Properties dialog box.
- If the computer is in Category View, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System.
- If the computer is in Classic View, double-click the System icon.
- In the System Properties dialog box, click the Advanced tab. On the Advanced tab, in the Startup and Recovery box, click Settings.
- In the Startup and Recovery dialog box, in the System startup box, adjust the seconds for how long the operating systems list is displayed. When finished, click OK. In the the System Properties dialog box click OK.
Note: It is not recommended that you clear the Display list of operating systems check box or set the seconds to zero (0).
- In Control Panel, click the File menu, and then click Close.
