Q: How do I disable simple sharing so I can have the classic sharing user interface?

A:

Note: This option is not available with Windows® XP Home Edition.

  1. Open Control Panel.

    • On the Windows XP default Start menu, click Control Panel.
    • On the Windows XP classic Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

  2. In Control Panel, click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.

  3. In the Folder Options dialog box, click the View tab, scroll to the bottom of the list, clear the Use simple file sharing (Recommended) check box, and then click OK.

  4. In Control Panel, click the File menu, and then click Close.
