However, if there are any compatibility issues with a program that worked correctly on an earlier version of Windows, attempt to run the program in compatibility mode.
Note: Many programs designed for earlier versions of Windows only work if run by an Administrator. To run a program as an Administrator while still logged on with non-Administrative rights, hold down the SHIFT key, and then right-click the shortcut. On the shortcut menu, click Run As. The password must be known for an account with Administrative rights.
Use the following steps to run Application Compatibility mode.
- Right-click the program shortcut, and then click Properties.
- In the Application Properties dialog box, click the Compatibility tab.
- On the Compatibility tab, select the Run this program in compatibility mode for check box, and then select the appropriate operating system in the drop-down list.
Note: Some programs may also require specific Display settings in order to function properly.
