Q: How do I open and use Device Manager?A: The following steps explain how to open Device Manager.
- Open Control Panel.
- From the Microsoft® Windows® XP default Start menu, click Control Panel.
- From the Windows XP classic Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- In Control Panel, open the System Properties dialog box.
- If the computer is in Category View, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System.
- If the computer is in Classic View, double-click the System icon.
- In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
- Device Manager opens.
- Click the plus sign (+) icon next to a category to open it and view the listed components.
- Double-click a component name to view its properties.
- In the Properties dialog box, click the Driver” tab to view the installed driver information. Other tabs may give you additional information on this component.
- If you are accessing the Gateway® Drivers and Downloads Web site, use this information to help you identify the correct drivers for your computer.
