Remove the hard drive
- Turn off the computer, and then disconnect all cables from the rear of the computer.
- Place the computer sceen down on a smooth surface. Be careful not to damage the LCD panel.
- Verify that the PC Card eject buttons are pressed in. If the PC Card eject buttons are not pressed in, they may break off when the cover is removed.

- Remove the six screws that secure the back panel.

- Starting at the bottom edge, lift the back panel. Ensure that the panel clears the PC Card eject buttons. The panel opens and is removed as if it were hinged at the top.

- Inside the case, press outward on the clips at both ends of the left memory module until the module tilts upward.

- Remove the left memory module from the slot.
- Using a magnetic screwdriver, remove the two screws that secure the hard drive in the case.

- Uncurl the hard drive ribbon cable, and then disconnect it from the hard drive.

- Use the hard drive's handle to pull it out of the drive bay.

Replace the hard drive
- Slide the hard drive into the bay.

- Using a magnetic screwdriver, secure the hard drive in the computer with the screws you removed earlier.
- Attach the ribbon cable to the hard drive, and then curl the cable and insert it into the space by the drive.
- Replace the left memory module by sliding it into the bay at an angle, and the pressing it down until the clips snap into place to secure it.
- Starting with the top edge, replace the back panel of the computer. Ensure that the panel clears the PC Card eject buttons.
- Secure the back panel to the computer using the six screws that were removed during the removal of the hard drive.

- Stand the computer upright.
- At the rear of the computer, connect the cables, and then turn on the computer.
