Q: How do I manually eject a CD or DVD disc?

A: There may be a time when there is no power to the computer or it is not possible to open the CD/DVD drive using the eject button. Perform the following steps to manually open the drive tray.

  1. Turn off the computer.

    Note: Do not manually open the tray when there is power to the drive.

  2. On the front of the CD/DVD drive tray, locate the manual eject hole.

  3. Carefully insert a stiff wire, such as a straightened paper clip, into the manual eject hole.

  4. When resistance is felt, gently press harder until the drive tray opens slightly.

  5. Slide the tray open all the way.
