Q: How do I remove and replace the front I/O assembly on the Gateway E-Series 6-bay uATX case?

A: Remove the front front I/O assembly

  1. Turn off the computer, and then disconnect the power cord.

  2. Remove the computer case left side bracket.

  3. Remove the computer front bezel.

  4. Inside the case, the front I/O assembly is located in the lower front of the case.

  5. Follow the assembly cables to their connections on the motherboard. Note these locations, and then disconnect the cables.

  6. On the front of the computer case, remove the screw that secures the I/O assembly bracket to the case.

  7. Tilt the I/O assembly bracket downward, and then lift it from the case.

  8. Use care when pulling the cables through the opening in the case.

  9. Remove the two screws that secure the I/O assembly in the bracket.

  10. Lift the I/O assembly out of the bracket.

Replace the front I/O assembly

  1. Align the I/O assembly in the bracket.

  2. Secure the I/O assembly in the bracket with two screws.

  3. At the front of the computer case, route the I/O assembly cables through the opening in the front of the case.

  4. Slide the lower tabs of the bracket into the slots in the case, and then tilt up the bracket into place.

  5. Secure the bracket on the case with one screw.

  6. Inside the case, connect the front I/O assembly cables to the motherboard.

  7. Replace the computer front bezel.

  8. Replace the computer case left side bracket.

  9. Connect the computer's power cord, and then turn on the computer.
