Q: How do I remove and replace the media card reader in the 6-bay micro uBTX case?

A: Remove the media card reader

  1. Turn off the computer, and then disconnect the power cord.

  2. Remove the right side panel.

  3. Remove the front bezel.

  4. Inside the case, the 3.5-inch drive cage is located near the upper front corner, below the 5.25-inch drive cage. The media card reader is installed in the lower bay of the 3.5-inch cage.

  5. At the rear of the media card reader, follow its cable to the connection on the motherboard. Note this location, and then disconnect the cable.

  6. Remove the screw that secures the media card reader in the cage.

  7. At the front of the computer case, pull the media card reader out. Ensure that the cable does not snag on internal components.

    Note: The media card reader fits tightly in the bay. Pulling the drive with a side to side rocking motion can be helpful to loosen it.

Replace the media card reader

  1. At the front of the case, push the cable through the bay, and then slide the drive all the way into the bay.

  2. Secure the drive in the cage with one screw.

  3. Connect the cable to the motherboard.

  4. Replace the front bezel.

  5. Replace the right side panel.

  6. Connect the power cord, and then turn on the computer.
