- Turn off the computer, and then disconnect the power cord.
- Remove the right side panel.
- Remove the front bezel.
- Inside the case, the 3.5-inch drive cage is located near the upper front corner, below the 5.25-inch drive cage. The media card reader is installed in the lower bay of the 3.5-inch cage.
- At the rear of the media card reader, follow its cable to the connection on the motherboard. Note this location, and then disconnect the cable.
- Remove the screw that secures the media card reader in the cage.

- At the front of the computer case, pull the media card reader out. Ensure that the cable does not snag on internal components.
Note: The media card reader fits tightly in the bay. Pulling the drive with a side to side rocking motion can be helpful to loosen it.
Replace the media card reader
- At the front of the case, push the cable through the bay, and then slide the drive all the way into the bay.
- Secure the drive in the cage with one screw.

- Connect the cable to the motherboard.
- Replace the front bezel.
- Replace the right side panel.
- Connect the power cord, and then turn on the computer.
