A: Note: The graphics in this document show the front bezel removed. However, this is not necessary for removal and replacement of an existing optical drive.
Remove the optical drive
- Turn off the computer, and then disconnect the power cord.
- Remove the right side panel.
- The 5.25-inch drive cage is located in the upper front corner of the case.
- At the rear of the optical drive, disconnect the data and power cables.
- Remove the two screws that secure the drive in the cage.

- Push the drive out through the front of the case.
Replace the optical drive
- At the front of the case, slide the drive into the 5.25-inch bay until the front of the drive is flush with the bezel, and the holes on the side of the drive align with the screw holes in the drive cage.
- Secure the drive in the cage with two screws.

- Connect the power and data cables to the rear of the drive.
- Replace the right side panel.
- Connect the power cord, and then turn on the computer.
