Q: How do I remove and replace the optical drive in the Gateway One case?

A: Remove the optical drive

  1. Turn off the computer, disconnect the power/data cable from the power module, and then disconnect all peripherals.

  2. Press the power button for two seconds to drain residual power.

  3. Open the case cover.

  4. Remove the ventilation shroud.

  5. Near the lower left corner of the chassis near the fan, remove the screw that secures the optical drive in the bay.

  6. Slide the optical drive out of the bay.

  7. If applicable, remove the bracket on the optical drive by removing the two screws that secure it to the side of the drive.

Replace the optical drive

  1. Align the two holes in the optical drive bracket with the first and fourth screw holes in the side of the new optical drive.

  2. Secure the bracket on the drive with two screws.

  3. Slide the optical drive into the bay.

  4. Secure the drive in the bay with one screw.

  5. Replace the ventilation shroud.

  6. Close the case cover.

  7. Connect peripherals, connect the power/data cable to the power module, and then turn on the computer.
