- Turn off the computer, disconnect the power/data cable from the power module, and then disconnect all peripherals.
- Press the power button for two seconds to drain residual power.
- Open the case cover.
- Remove the ventilation shroud.
- Near the lower left corner of the chassis near the fan, remove the screw that secures the optical drive in the bay.

- Slide the optical drive out of the bay.

- If applicable, remove the bracket on the optical drive by removing the two screws that secure it to the side of the drive.

Replace the optical drive
- Align the two holes in the optical drive bracket with the first and fourth screw holes in the side of the new optical drive.

- Secure the bracket on the drive with two screws.

- Slide the optical drive into the bay.

- Secure the drive in the bay with one screw.

- Replace the ventilation shroud.
- Close the case cover.
- Connect peripherals, connect the power/data cable to the power module, and then turn on the computer.
