Q: How do I remove and replace or install a Mini PCI card in the Gateway One case?

A: Remove a Mini PCI card

  1. Turn off the computer, disconnect the power/data cable from the power module, and then disconnect all peripherals.

  2. Press the power button for two seconds to drain residual power.

  3. Open the case cover.

  4. The two Mini PCI slots are located near the middle, right side of the chassis. Slot 1 is closest to the outside edge of the computer and slot 2 is closest to the center of the computer.

  5. On the card being removed, disconnect all cables attached to the card. The number of cables attached may vary depending on the card used.

  6. Remove the two screws that secure the card.

  7. The card pops up at an angle, and can be removed from the slot.

Replace or install a Mini PCI card

  1. If you are installing a new card and have not already done so, perform steps 1 - 3 above.

  2. Slide the card into the slot at a 30° angle.

  3. Press the card down, and then secure it with two screws (either the screws removed previously, or those supplied with the Mini PCI card).

  4. If applicable, connect cables to the card.

  5. Close the case cover.

  6. Connect peripherals, connect the power/data cable to the power module, and then turn on the computer.
