Q: How do I use the Windows XP Wireless Zero Configuration to configure the wireless adapter in Windows XP Service Pack 1?

A: Windows XP Service Pack 1 Wireless Zero Configuration

Note: Microsoft® Windows® XP has built-in configuration tools. Use the Windows XP Wireless Zero Configuration, located in the system tray at the bottom of your screen, to configure the adapter.

  1. After installing the adapter, the Windows XP Wireless Zero Configuration icon appears in your system tray. Double-click the icon of the two monitors.

    Note: If it has already been set up, right-click the icon and select View Available Wireless Networks.

  2. In the Wireless Network Connection dialog box, from the Available wireless networks: list, select a network. If the network does not have WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) encryption enabled, verify that the Allow me to connect to the selected wireless network, even though it is not secure check box is selected, and then click Connect.

  3. If your network has enabled WEP encryption, in the Wireless Network Connection dialog box, in the Network key: box, type the WEP key. In the Confirm Network Key box, re-type the WEP key, and then click Connect.

    Note: Windows XP does not support the use of a WEP passphrase. Type the exact key used by your access point.

  4. If the connection is successful, a Wireless Network Connection dialog box opens.

Advanced Configuration Screens

  1. After installing the adapter, the Windows XP Wireless Zero Configuration icon appears in your system tray. Double-click the icon of the two monitors.

  2. For Advanced Setup, click the Advanced button.
