Q: How do I adjust the volume controls?

A:

You can use the volume controls to adjust the overall volume and the volume of specific sound devices in your computer.

How to adjust overall volume level

  1. On the keyboard, press the volume buttons to change the volume, or press the mute button to turn off all sound.

  2. On the taskbar, double-click the (speaker) icon, and then move the slider to change the volume or select the Mute check box.

How to adjust specific volume levels.

  1. On the taskbar, double-click the (speaker) icon. The Volume Control window opens. If the device does not appear in the Volume Control window, on the Options menu, click Properties. In the Properties dialog box, select the audio device that you want to appear in the window, and then click OK.

  2. Move the Volume and Balance sliders for the device that you want to adjust, and then close the window. For more information about the volume controls, in the Volume Control window, click the Help menu.
