Docking Station Port
Connect the Gateway PR-3 port replicator or the Gateway MD-3 docking station to this port.
Warning! Power is passed through this connection. This docking connector is UL certified for use only with these two docking station devices.
Docking the notebook
The notebook can be attached to the docking station while the notebook is off, on, or in Standby/Suspend mode.
Note: When the notebook is docked, the docking station must be connected to AC power to function properly.
To dock the notebook:
- Connect external devices to the docking station.
- Lift the release latch on the docking station.
- Align the connector holes on the bottom of the notebook with the connector posts on the docking station.
- Press down on the release latch until it snaps into place.
Separating from the docking station:
- Click Start, then Eject PC or press the Docking Eject button on the front of the docking station. In Windows 98 or Windows 95 this disconnects your notebook through the operating system. Eject PC appears in the Start menu only if the notebook is docked.
- Lift the release latch on the docking station until the notebook is disconnected from the docking port on the docking station.
- Lift the notebook off of the docking posts to remove it from the docking station.
To attach the notebook to the replicator:
- Connect external devices to the replicator’s port.
- Lift the release latch on the replicator.
- Align the connector holes on the bottom of the notebook with the docking posts on the replicator.
- Press down on the release latch until it snaps into place.
Note: The computer may detect additional devices after being attached to the port replicator and add drivers. This process must be completed for components to work properly. Follow any on-screen instructions, if necessary.
To separate the notebook from the replicator:
- Click Start, then click Eject PC.
- Lift the release latch on the replicator until the notebook is disconnected from the docking port on the replicator.
- Lift the notebook off of the docking posts.
