Q: How do I install a Bluetooth device in Windows Vista?

A: Follow these steps to install a Bluetooth device in Windows Vista™.

  1. From the Windows Vista™ Start menu, click Control Panel.

  2. In Control Panel click Bluetooth Devices.

  3. In the Bluetooth Devices dialog box, click Add.

  4. In the Welcome to the Add Bluetooth Device Wizard dialog box, follow the on screen instructions to set up your device so that your computer can detect it, click to select My device is set up and ready to be found, and then click Next.

  5. Windows searches for the device.

  6. In the next Add Bluetooth Device Wizard dialog box, click to select the Bluetooth device that you want to add, and then click Next.

  7. In the next Add Bluetooth Device Wizard dialog box, refer to the documentation for the Bluetooth device that you are adding to determine if the device has a designated passkey. Other options include allowing the wizard to select the passkey, selecting your own passkey, or not using a passkey. It is recommended that you use a passkey for security purposes unless your device does not support one.

  8. Windows installs the device.

  9. In the Completing the Add Bluetooth Device Wizard dialog box, click Finish.

  10. The device is now listed in the Bluetooth Devices window.
