Q: How do I view the notebook display on an external monitor in Windows Vista?A: You can use your notebook for giving presentations by connecting an external monitor to your monitor (VGA) port. Your notebook supports simultaneous LCD and CRT display. Simultaneous display lets you control the presentation from your notebook and at the same time face your audience.
Note: If an external monitor is connected and you close the LCD panel, your notebook turns off the LCD panel, but does not enter Standby mode.
Follow these steps to connect an external monitor.
- Turn off your notebook.
- Plug the monitor cable into the VGA port on your notebook or an optional port replicator.
- Turn on your notebook.
- Plug the monitor's power cord into an AC power source and then turn it on. Windows® detects the new hardware and searches for its driver.
Note: You may need to install the driver from the disc supplied by the manufacturer or download the driver from the manufacturer's Web site.
- In the New Display Detected dialog box, select the options for the external monitor, and then click OK.
Follow these steps to adjust the display properties on the external monitor.
- From the Windows Vista default Start menu, click All Programs, Accessories, and then click Windows Mobility Center.
- In the Windows Mobility Center window, click the Change display settings icon (
).
- In the Display Settings dialog box, click monitor 2.
- Adjust the properties such as Resolution or Colors, and then click OK.
Note: Press FN+F4 to switch between viewing the display on the LCD panel and viewing the display on the monitor.
