Q: How do I recalibrate the battery on this notebook?

A: If your notebook unexpectedly goes into Standby mode while you are using it but the battery charge is not low, you may need to recalibrate your battery. You should also recalibrate the battery periodically to maintain the accuracy of the battery gauge.

Follow these steps to recalibrate the battery:

  1. Connect the AC adapter, and then turn on your notebook.

  2. At the startup screen, press F2 to enter the BIOS Setup Utility.

  3. Use the RIGHT ARROW key to select the Advanced menu.

  4. On the Advanced menu, use the DOWN ARROW key to select Battery Auto Learning. Press the spacebar to select Enabled, and then press ENTER.

  5. Use the RIGHT ARROW key to select the Exit menu. On the Exit menu select Exit Saving Changes and press ENTER.

  6. At the Setup Confirmation prompt, select Yes, and then press ENTER. The battery recalibration process begins and a screen opens showing you the progress. The entire process takes several hours.

  7. When the recalibration has finished, at the prompt Press [Esc] key to exit, press ESC. The battery charge indicator now displays an accurate battery charge.
