Q: Why does the video appear to be operating differently when I am using the battery to power my Gateway notebook?

A: The ATI Mobility drivers have a feature called POWERPLAY™ which allows the user to control their graphics settings for optimal performance or for greater battery life. The settings can be customized for both AC power and battery power allowing greater control of computing experience. The settings are located in Display Properties.

To view the POWERPLAY™ options:

  1. From the Start menu, click Control Panel. With Control Panel in Category view, click Appearance and Themes, and then click Display.

  2. In Display Properties, click the Settings tab.

  3. On the Settings tab, click Advanced.

  4. Click the ATI POWERPLAY™ tab.

  5. The POWERPLAY™ dialog box displays the power status. When the Enable POWERPLAY™ option is selected, you can click POWERPLAY™ Settings to adjust the settings.

  6. Make your adjustments to the settings, and then click Apply.
