Q: How do I enable or disable the modem speaker on a Gateway M675 notebook?

A:
  1. From the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

  2. In Control Panel, click the Printers and Other Hardware icon.

  3. In the Printers and Other Hardware window, double-click Phone and Modem Options.

  4. In the Phone and Modem Options dialog box, click the Modem tab, click to select Agere Systems AC'97 Modem, and then click Properties.

  5. In the Agere Systems AC'97 Modem Properties dialog box, click the Advanced tab.

  6. On the Advanced tab in the Extra Settings area, type the appropriate AT command for the desired result, and then click OK.

    • ATM0 = Speaker off
    • ATM1 = Speaker on

  7. In the Phone and Modem Options dialog box, click OK.

  8. In the Printers and Other Hardware window, click File, and then click Close.
