Q: Why does Windows 2000 stop responding at the splash screen when trying to reload the operating system?

A: Hyper-threading is not supported in Windows® 2000. If you are reloading the operating system and the notebook stops responding at the Windows 2000 splash screen, enter the BIOS Setup utility and set the Hyper-Threading Technology option on the Advanced screen to Disabled.
