Q: How do I remove or replace the main battery in the Gateway M460 and 6800 Series notebooks?

A:

Removing the Battery

  1. If your notebook is on and is connected to AC power or has a charged secondary battery installed, go to Step 2. If the computer is on and is not plugged into an AC outlet, save your work and turn off the computer.

  2. Close the LCD panel.

  3. Disconnect your notebook from the optional port replicator.

  4. Turn the computer over.

  5. Slide the battery lock (upper right) to the unlock position.

  6. Slide the battery release latch (upper left) and hold while sliding the battery out of the bay.

Inserting the Battery

  1. Slide a recharged battery into the bay and press down until it snaps into place.

  2. Slide the battery lock to the lock position.

  3. Turn your notebook over.

  4. Reconnect the optional port replicator.

  5. Open the LCD panel and press the power button.
