The optional floppy disk drive, located on the left side of the computer, uses 3.5-inch disks, sometimes called floppy disks. Disks are useful for storing files or transferring files to another computer. The Gateway® M405 floppy disk drive is not user replaceable.

Follow these steps to use a disk.

1. Insert the disk into the floppy disk slot with the label facing up.

2. To access a file on the disk, from the Start menu, click My Computer. Double-click the drive letter (for example, drive A), and then double-click the file name.

3. To remove the disk, verify that the disk drive status indicator is off, and then press the disk eject button.
