A: Follow these steps to change advanced power management settings.

  1. Open Control Panel.

    • In Microsoft® Windows® XP, from the Start menu, click Control Panel. In category view, click Performance and Maintenance.
    • In Windows 2000, from the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. The Control Panel window opens.

  2. In Control Panel, click or double-click the Power Options or Power Management icon.

  3. In the Power Options Properties dialog box, click the Advanced tab.

  4. On the Advanced tab, in the Power buttons list, click the power setting mode you want to use.

  5. Click OK.
