Battery bay This is the battery bay on the Gateway® M405 notebook. This battery was shipped partially charged. Use the AC adapter right away to charge the battery. When finished using the computer for the first time, turn the computer off, but leave it connected to AC power for at least 24 hours to allow the battery to fully charge.

If the battery is not fully charged before you use the computer on battery power for the first time, the battery life may be much shorter than expected. If the battery life seems short even after being charged for 24 hours, the battery may need to be recalibrated.

Closely monitor the battery charge. When the battery charge gets low, change the battery or connect to AC power immediately to prevent losing any unsaved work.
