Keyboard The Gateway® M275 Convertible Tablet Notebook features a full-size keyboard that functions the same as a desktop computer keyboard. Many of the keys have been assigned alternate functions, including shortcut keys for Windows and function keys for specific system operations.

You can attach an external keyboard to your convertible tablet PC using a USB port. You do not need to shut down your convertible tablet notebook to connect a USB keyboard.

The keyboard for the Gateway® M275 Convertible Tablet Notebook is replaceable. For keyboard replacement, follow the instructions in the manual Replacing the Gateway M275 Keyboard.

Key Types

Keys Description
A. Function keys Press the keys labeled F1 to F12 to perform actions in programs. For example, pressing the F1 key may open Help. Each program uses different function keys for different purposes. See the program documentation to find out more about the function key actions.
A. System keys Press the colored system keys in combination with the Fn key to perform specific actions.
B. Navigation keys Press the navigation keys to move the cursor to the beginning of a line, to the end of a line, up the page, down the page, to the beginning of a document, or to the end of a document.
B. Volume keys Press the colored volume keys in combination with the Fn key to increase or decrease the volume or to turn off all sound.
C. Fn key Press the Fn key in combination with a colored system key (such as STATUS, STANDBY, or PAUSE) to perform a specific action.
D. Windows key Press the Windows® key to open the Windows Start menu. This key can also be used in combination with other keys to open utilities. For example, press the Windows key in combination with the F key to open the Search utility. Press the Windows key in combination with the R key to open the Run utility. Press the Windows key in combination with the E key to open the Explorer utility.
E. Numeric keypad This notebook has a full sized numeric keypad. Press NUM LOCK to activate the numeric keypad.
F. Application key Press this key for quick access to shortcut menus and help assistants in Windows.
G. ARROW keys Press the ARROW keys to move the cursor up, down, right, or left.
G. LCD Brightness Keys Press the colored LCD brightness keys in combination with the Fn key to control the screen brightness.
