Q: How do I use the Function (Fn) and System keys on the Gateway M275 Convertible Tablet Notebook?

Function (Fn) and System keys Press the function keys labeled F1 to F12 to perform actions in programs. For example, pressing the F1 key may open Help. Each program uses different function keys for different purposes.

Press the colored System keys in combination with the Fn key to perform specific actions.

F1
 Open a help menu.
F2
 Display the power status box in the upper-left corner of the screen. The menu shows the battery charge level, the BIOS version, and whether the AC power adapter is being used. Press the key combination again to close this box.
F3
 Switch the computer screen between the LCD, an external monitor, or both displays at the same time. A monitor must be plugged into the monitor port on the computer.
F4
 Enter Standby mode. Press the power button to leave Standby mode.
F7
 Toggle on and off the wireless LAN radio by using the combination Fn+F7 key. An icon appears to indicate wireless ON or OFF when toggled.
F8
 Increase the LCD brightness.
F9
 Turn on Pad Lock so you can use the numeric keypad. Press this key combination again to turn off Pad Lock. The Pad Lock status indicator appears while this function is turned on.
F10
 Pause the text scrolling in an MS-DOS screen. The Scroll Lock status indicator appears when this function is enabled. Press the key combination again to continue scrolling. This function is only available in some programs.
F11
 Pause execution of an MS-DOS program. This function is only available in some programs.
F12
 Stop the currently running MS-DOS program. This function is only available in some programs.
Up Arrow
 Increase the brightness of the screen.
Down Arrow
 Decrease the brightness of the screen.
Home
 Mute the sound. Press the key combination again to restore the sound.
Page up
 Increase volume.
Page down
 Decrease volume.
