Q: How do I replace the hard drive on the Gateway M275 Convertible Tablet Notebook?

A:
Hard drive location Warning: Disconnect the power adapter, the modem and network cables, and remove the battery before removing the hard drive bay cover. Replace the cover before restoring power or reconnecting the modem and network cables.

  1. Before beginning, review electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautions.

  2. Shut down the convertible tablet notebook, and then disconnect the power adapter.

  3. Disconnect the modem and network cables.

  4. Disconnect your convertible tablet PC from the optional port replicator.

  5. Turn the convertible tablet notebook over, and then remove the battery.

  6. Remove the two hard drive bay screws.
    Remove the two hard drive bay screws.

  7. Slide the hard drive kit away from the computer.
    Slide the hard drive kit away from the computer.

  8. If your new hard drive already includes the hard drive kit bracket, go to step 13. If you need to move the hard drive kit bracket from your old hard drive kit to your new hard drive, go to step 9.

  9. Remove the two screws that secure the hard drive to the hard drive kit bracket.
    Remove the two screws that secure the hard drive to the hard drive kit bracket.
    Remove the two screws that secure the hard drive to the hard drive kit bracket.

  10. Remove the bracket from the old drive.
    Remove the bracket from the old drive.

  11. Insert the new drive into the bracket so the screw holes line up and the plastic strip is positioned on the top of the bracket.
    Insert the new drive into the bracket.

  12. Replace the two screws that secure the bracket to the drive.
    Replace the two screws that secure the bracket to the drive.
    Replace the two screws that secure the bracket to the drive.

  13. Slide the new hard drive kit into the computer.
    Slide the new hard drive kit into the computer.

  14. Replace the screws that secure the hard drive kit to the computer.
    Replace the screws that secure the hard drive kit to the computer.

  15. Insert the battery, and then turn over the computer.

  16. Reattach the optional port replicator.

  17. Connect the AC adapter, modem and network cables, and then turn on the computer.
