Q: How do I turn off the wireless network?

A: There are times, such as when you are flying in an aircraft, when you should turn off the wireless Ethernet network. You can also turn off wireless Ethernet to conserve the battery charge on the computer. To turn off the wireless network, press the wireless Ethernet button located above the keyboard. The button glows blue when the wireless Ethernet is turned on.

Follow these steps to turn wireless Ethernet on or off using the Start menu in Windows® XP.

  1. On the Start menu, click Control Panel.

  2. In Control Panel, using Category View, click Network and Internet Connections.

  3. In the Network and Internet Connections window, click or double-click Network Connections.

  4. In the Network Connections window, right-click Wireless Network Connection, and then click Enable to turn on wireless Ethernet or click Disable to turn off wireless Ethernet.

Note: Some notebooks have a wireless function key option. If your notebook has a wireless icon Wireless icon on the F2 key, press the Fn+F2 keys to turn the optional IEEE 802.11 wireless network radio on or off.
