Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I recalibrate the battery on the Gateway 200ARC notebook?

A: If your notebook computer unexpectedly goes into Standby mode while you are using it, but the battery charge is not low, you may need to recalibrate your battery. You should also recalibrate the battery periodically to maintain the accuracy of the battery gauge.

Note: Do not interrupt the battery recalibration process. If recalibration is interrupted, you must start the process over again.

Follow these steps to recalibrate the battery.

  1. Disconnect the AC adapter

  2. Turn on the notebook computer.

  3. As soon as it starts and you see a startup screen, press the F2 key.

  4. In the BIOS Setup Utility, use the TAB key to select the Advanced menu.

  5. From the Advanced menu, select Smart Battery Calibration, and then press the ENTER key. When prompted, start the recalibration program.

  6. After the battery has been fully discharged and your notebook computer has turned itself off, re-connect the AC adapter and fully recharge your battery.

Recharging may take several hours. After the battery finishes recharging, the battery meter displays the accurate battery charge.
