Q: Backlit Keyboard Substitutes on MD24 and MD73 Series

A shortage of keyboards occured in manufacturing and backlit keyboards were substituted on some systems.

The specifications of the MD24 and MD73 series remains unchanged. They were spec'd for a non-backlit keyboards.
Gateway service has decided to replace the original keyboard with the backlit keyboard on the SPL for specific SKUs.

If a keyboard fails:
The tech should replace the keyboard with the one listed on the SPL.

Returning defective parts:
Please do not return the defective part. This keyboard is marked RID = NO.

Note: Not all models in the MD24 or MD73 series are affected with the part substitution. The SPL reflecting the backlit keyboard were only changed on specific SKUs. Not all MD24 or MD73 series SPL will reflect this change.

The model MD2419U (LX.W7202.004) and MD7309U (LX.W7702.004) are two of the models that are affected.
