Q: How do I install or replace the main battery on the Gateway convertible notebook?

A: Note: Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with a battery specifically manufactured for your Gateway convertible notebook. Discard used batteries according to local hazardous material regulations.
The battery used in this device may present a fire or chemical burn hazard if mishandled. Do not disassemble, heat above 212° F (100° C), or incinerate. Dispose of used battery promptly. Keep away from children.

To install the main battery:

  1. Close the LCD panel.

  2. Turn your convertible notebook over so the bottom is facing up.

  3. Hold the battery label-side down and lower it into the open battery bay until the battery clicks into place.

  4. Slide the battery lock to the locked position.

To replace the main battery:

  1. Disconnect your convertible notebook from the optional port replicator.

  2. If your convertible notebook is on and is connected to AC power or has a charged multi-bay battery installed, go to Step 3. If your convertible notebook is on, is not plugged into an AC outlet, and does not have a charged multi-bay battery installed, save your work and turn off the convertible notebook.

  3. Close the LCD panel.

  4. Turn your convertible notebook over so the bottom is facing up.

  5. Slide the battery lock to the unlocked position.

  6. Slide the battery release latch, and then slide the battery out of the bay.

  7. Slide a recharged battery into the bay until it snaps into place.
