Multimedia panel The multimedia panel is used to control playback of CDs and DVDs. The panel includes a capacitive volume control.

Button Description
A. Hotstart button The Windows Hotstart button turns the notebook on (if turned off) and opens Media Center in Windows Vista™ Home Premium and Vista Ultimate or Windows Media Player in Vista Home Basic.

Note: You can use this button if the notebook is turned on, turned off, or in Sleep or Hibernate mode.

Note: You cannot use this button if you are logged on as guest.

B. Instant on Audio button The Instant on Audio button opens Media Center in Vista Home Premium and Vista Ultimate or Windows Media Player in Vista Home Basic.
C. Instant on Video button The Instant on Video button opens Media Center in Vista Home Premium and Vista Ultimate or the DVD player program in Vista Home Basic.
D. Play or Pause button Play or pause the CD or DVD.
E. Stop button Stop playing the CD or DVD.
F. Back button Skip back one CD track or DVD chapter.
G. Forward button Skip ahead one CD track or DVD chapter.
H. Mute button Mute the sound. Press again to restore the sound.
I. Volume This is the capacitive volume control button. Swipe your finger on the volume sensor strip to change the volume. To increase the volume, move your finger from the - towards the +. To decrease the volume, move from the + towards the -.

Notes on use:

  • You can start swiping at any point on the strip.
  • The duration of the swipe determines the amount of the change.
  • At the end of this swipe, if you keep your finger on the strip, the volume control continues to change in the same direction.
  • Tapping on the strip does not change the volume.
