A: This notebook's modular bay supports different modular components, including a secondary battery.

Follow these steps to install a secondary battery in the modular bay.

  1. If you are removing an optical or floppy disk drive, verify that it is empty.

  2. Verify that the notebook is not in Sleep or Hibernate mode.

  3. Close the LCD panel.

  4. Disconnect your notebook from the optional port replicator.

  5. Turn your notebook over so the bottom is facing up.

  6. Remove the optional security screw if your notebook has one.

  7. Slide the modular bay release latch.

  8. The modular bay component moves out slightly.
    The module moves out slightly.

  9. Slide the modular bay component out.

  10. Firmly push the modular bay battery straight into the bay until the latch clicks into place.
    Firmly push the new bay module straight into the bay until the latch clicks into place.

  11. Reinstall the optional security screw if your notebook has one.

  12. Connect the optional port replicator.
