Q: How do I enable dual monitor display with ATI video in Windows XP?

A: Follow these steps to enable dual monitor display with ATI video in Windows® XP.

  1. Attach a monitor to DVI connector on the port replicator.

  2. Attach a monitor to VGA connector on the port replicator.

  3. Turn on the notebook, and then connect to the port replicator.

  4. Right-click on the Windows® XP desktop, and then click ATI Catalyst Control Center.

  5. In the Catalyst Control Center, click Advanced, and then click Next.

  6. From the Graphics Settings list, click Displays Manager.

  7. In the Desktop and Display Setup section under Main, right-click the picture of the notebook, and then click Disable.

  8. In the Displays Manager Notification dialog box, click Yes.

  9. In the Attached displays currently disabled: area, right-click the picture of the monitor, and then click Extend main onto monitor.

  10. In the Displays Manager Notification dialog box, click Yes.

  11. If the monitors are in reverse order, right-click Desktop 1, click Swap displays, and then click Swap display order only.
