Front view This is the front view of the notebook.

Component Icon Description
A. LCD panel release latch   To open the LCD panel, slide the release latch to the right.
B. Speakers   Provide audio output when headphones or amplified speakers are not plugged in.
C. Battery status indicator  
  • LED blue - battery is fully charged
  • LED purple - battery is charging
  • LED blinking red - battery charge is very low
  • LED solid red - battery is malfunctioning
Note: This LED only lights up when the notebook is connected to AC power or the battery charge is very low.
D. Power status indicator  
  • LED on - notebook is on
  • LED blinking - notebook is in Standby, Sleep, or Hybrid Sleep mode.
  • LED off - notebook is off
E. Wireless network switch Wireless icon Turn the optional IEEE 802.11 wireless network radio and optional Bluetooth radio on or off.

Note: The wireless network switch turns on both the optional wireless LAN and optional Bluetooth. The switch must be turned on for the wireless LAN and Bluetooth function keys to work (Fn+F2 for wireless and Fn+F6 for Bluetooth). If you have turned on the wireless network switch and then used a function key to disable one of the functions, the option selected remains until the wireless network switch is turned on and the function key is once again used to change the setting. For example; if you have turned on the wireless network switch to enable the wireless LAN and Bluetooth, and then used the Fn+F6 function to disable the just the Bluetooth option, even after turning the wireless switch off and then back on, the Fn+F6 function key must be used to enable the Bluetooth option again.

F. Microphone jack Microphone icon Plug a microphone into this jack. The built-in microphone is turned off when a microphone is plugged into this jack.
G. Headphone jack Headphone icon Plug amplified speakers or headphones into this jack. The built-in speakers are turned off when headphones are plugged into this jack.
