Gateway Media Center Update

Setting up Media Center hardware

Media Center configuration without cable box or satellite receiver (direct connection) or TV antenna:

If you DO NOT use a cable box or satellite receiver with your Media Center configuration, skip steps 4, 5, 6, and 7 in the "Setting up Media Center hardware" process on page 8 and 9 of the Setting up your Gateway Media Center guide.

Media Center configuration with cable box or satellite receiver:

Some cable boxes and satellite receivers are set to receive radio frequency (RF) signals from the remote control. However, the Media Center infrared (IR) emitter sends infrared signals to your cable box or satellite receiver. Make sure that the cable box or satellite receiver is set to accept infrared signals. See your cable box or satellite receiver's guide for information about remote settings.

Turning on and setting up software

The Media Center setup wizard requires Internet access to complete the Media Center software configuration. Before following the "Turning on and setting up software" instructions on page 11 of the Setting up your Gateway Media Center guide, connect to your Internet service provider (ISP) or make sure that your broadband Internet connection is connected.

Reinstalling software

Instructions for reinstalling software are included in the Using Your Gateway PC guide that came with your Gateway Media Center computer. However, if you reinstall Windows XP Media Center, make sure that you install the DVD software located on the Intervideo DVD Software CD before running the Media Center setup wizard.
