A CR 2032 battery provides power to the real-time clock (RTC) and BIOS memory.

The RTC is accurate to ±13 minutes per year at 78°F (25°C) with 3.3 volts applied. The RTC provides a time-of-day clock and a multicentury calendar with alarm features and a century rollover. The RTC supports 256 bytes of battery-backed CMOS RAM in two banks reserved for BIOS use.

To remove the battery, push it to the right. Use a small object to lift or pry the left side from the socket. The positive (+) side of the battery is placed face up, and the negative (-) side of the battery is placed face down.
