AGP slot The Accelerated Graphics Port (AGP) is a high-performance bus for graphic-intensive programs, such as three-dimensional programs. AGP, while based on the PCI Local Bus Specification, revision 2.1, is independent of the PCI bus and is intended for exclusive use with graphical-display devices. AGP overcomes certain limitations of the PCI bus related to handling large amounts of graphics data with these performance features:

  • Pipelined-memory read and write operations that hide memory access latency
  • Demultiplexing of address and data on the bus for near 100 percent bus efficiency
  • AC timing for 133-megahertz (MHz) data transfer rates, allowing real data throughput in excess of 500 megabytes per second (MBps)

Note: This AGP version 1.1 universal connector supports 1x and 2x AGP video cards.
