Identifying Your Motherboard

To best identify your motherboard, enter your computer's serial number on the main Gateway® Support page or use the My Current System Info to tell you what is in your computer. This option also identifies what BIOS the motherboard has (a good way to identify your motherboard and look for upgrades).

Note: The computer serial number should be 10-digits. If needed, add two or three zeros (0) to the front of your serial number to make it the required 10-digits.

Other identifiers

Motherboards are marked with various identifiers. These include some that are silk screened on the component side (top) or the solder side (bottom), and stickers. The Gateway® part number sticker is the most help for identifying the motherboard installed in your Gateway computer. The Gateway part number is a 7-digit part number starting with either 4000*** or 25*****, or an alpha-numeric part number starting and ending like this: MBD********WW.

Following is a list of other identifiers that you may also notice on your motherboard:

  • UL Joint Recognition Mark: Consists of small c followed by a stylized backward UR and followed by a small US (Component side)
  • Manufacturer's recognition mark: Consists of a unique UL recognized manufacturer's logo, along with a flammability rating (94V-0) (Solder side)
  • UL File Number for Intel Pentium version motherboards: E139761 (Component side)
  • PB Part Number: Intel bare circuit board part number (Solder side) eg. PB A22167-003
