External Cache Memory
This is a closer view of the Coast Edge Low Profile (CELP) socket. The Pentium processor's internal cache may be complemented by adding a second level (L2) cache module in this socket using high performance Pipelined Burst Static RAM (PBSRAM). This socket can accept either 256-kilobytes (KB) or 512-KB cache modules. There are not any jumper settings that need to be made when installing a 256-KB or 512-KB module. Gateway sells both 256-KB and 512-KB cache modules at the point of sale. Depending on computer configuration, this may or may not be populated with a Cache On A Stick (Coast) module.
