A CR 2032 battery provides power to the real-time clock (RTC) and BIOS memory.
The RTC is accurate to ±13 minutes per year at 78 degrees Fahrenheit (25 degrees Celsius) with three volts (V) applied. The clock provides a time-of-day clock and a multicentury calendar with alarm features. The RTC supports 256 bytes of battery-backed CMOS RAM in two banks reserved for BIOS use.
To remove the battery, push the retention clip away from the battery. Slide or gently pry the battery out of its holder. When installing the new battery, ensure that the positive (+) side faces up. Follow electrostatic discharge precautions whenever removing or replacing the battery. |
