Crystal Audio Codec Driver - System Restoration CD 15.5 and later

The part number for this driver is 7510537. The version number is 4.01.4026. Because this driver is shipping on the System Restoration CD, these numbers are not referenced in external documentation. They serve only as an internal Gateway reference.

  1. Insert the System Restoration Kit CD 1 into the CD-ROM drive. Close the browser if it opens automatically.

  2. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. In Control Panel, double-click the Multimedia icon.

  3. In the Multimedia Properties dialog box, click the Devices tab. On the Devices tab, click Audio Devices, and then click Add.

  4. In the Add dialog box, click Unlisted or Updated Driver, and then click OK.

  5. In the Install Driver dialog box, type: e:\winnt40\audio\crystal\e1600\ (where e is the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive). Click OK.

  6. In the Add Unlisted or Updated Driver dialog box, Crystal Audio CODEC is listed. Click OK.

  7. The driver is installed. In the System Settings Change dialog box, click Restart Now.

  8. After Windows restarts, the Control Panel is still displayed. Double-click the Multimedia icon.

  9. In the Multimedia Properties dialog box, click the Devices tab. On the Devices tab, double-click Audio Devices, and then double-click Audio for Crystal Audio CODEC.

  10. Verify that the Crystal Audio CODEC is enabled and functioning correctly, and then click OK.

  11. In the Multimedia Properties dialog box, double-click Mixer Devices to verify that Mixer for Crystal Audio CODEC is installed.

  12. If the MIDI for CrystalWave Synth driver has not been installed, follow the procedure to install its driver.
