The two Dual inline memory module (DIMM) slots are keyed to insure proper insertion. BIOS automatically detects memory type, size, and speed. The memory type, size, and speed can vary between the sockets. The memory modules do not have to be installed in a certain order or in a specific socket. Bank 0 or the DIMM1 slot is located toward the rear of the motherboard. The motherboard will support a maximum of 512-megabytes (MB) (using 128-megabit technology). |
Note: inside the case, you need to lift and flip the CD-ROM drive unit to gain access to the DIMM slots.
Memory features
- Serial Presence Detect (SPD)
- Auto-configuration and detection of the size and speed of memory
- 3.3 volt memory only
- 64-bit (non-ECC) memory data bus
- 4 clock, 100-megahertz (MHz) and 133-MHz unbuffered SDRAM
- BIOS will not initialize installed memory greater than 512-MB
- Single or double-sided DIMM configurations
- Mixed speed DIMM configuration will default to the slowest speed DIMM installed
- Suspend-to-RAM support
- Non-SPD support
- Gold contacts on DIMMs
- Maximum total memory sizes using:
- 8-MB, 16-MB, 32-MB, 64-MB, 128-MB, 256-MB (64-megabit technology)
- 64-MB, 128-MB, 256-MB, 512-MB (128-megabit technology)
Note: The type of Megabit (Mb) technology refers to the density of each DRAM chip located on the DIMM. For instance, each DRAM chip on a 128-Mb based DIMM is 16 megabytes (MB) in size. This motherboard will not accept DIMMS based on higher than 128 Mb technology.
