- Shut down the computer, disconnect the power cord, and then install the PCI video card in the first PCI slot, the one closest to the processor.
- Turn on the computer, and then immediately begin pressing the F1 key at one-second intervals. If you perform this step correctly, the BIOS Setup Utility starts. If Windows® loads normally, Restart the computer and repeat this step.
Note: The F1 key command applies to Pentium-based computers only. Some computers may require you to press the F2 or other keys. To identify which key or keys to press, refer to the documentation that came with your computer.
- In the BIOS Setup Utility, use the DOWN ARROW key to select Boot Options, then press the ENTER key.
- Use the DOWN ARROW key to select Initial display device, then press ENTER.
- From the displayed list, select PCI, then press ENTER.
- Press the ESC key to return to the main menu.
- Use the RIGHT ARROW key to select the Exit menu.
- Exit saving changes is selected by default. Press ENTER.
- Change the video cable from the onboard VGA port to the port on the PCI video card.
Note: Before removing the PCI video card from the computer, you must enter the BIOS Setup Utility, and then change the Initial display device back to Onboard. If you do not do so, the computer will not have any video.
