Connecting the Monitor

Use the following steps to connect the stand and cables to the monitor.

  1. Make sure that the computer is turned off.

  2. Place the monitor base on a table top, and then slide the monitor neck down onto the base.

  3. Tighten the thumbscrew under the base with your fingers (or a flat-head screwdriver) to secure the neck in place.

  4. Position your computer and the monitor so that you can reach the back of each.

  5. Connect the power cord to the power connector on the back of the display.

  6. Connect the blue VGA cable to the blue video connector under the back of the display.

    Note: If your computer has a digital video (DVI) connector, connect a white DVI video cable (not included) to the white DVI connector under the back of the display.

  7. Connect the other end of the video cable to the matching video port on the back of the computer.

  8. Connect other video sources (such as a DVD player, video camera, or receiver) to the appropriate video jacks on the back of the monitor.

    • For basic video quality, connect your video device's composite video in jack to the corresponding jack on the back of your monitor (cable not included).
    • For better video quality, connect your video device's S-video jack to the corresponding jack on the back of your monitor (cable not included).
    • For best video quality, connect your video devices's component video (green Y, blue Pb, red Pr) jacks to the corresponding jack on the back of your monitor (cables not included).

  9. Plug the power cord into a correctly grounded electrical outlet.
