This is a view of the USB ports on the rear of the monitor. The downstream ports are used to connect USB equipped peripherals, such as, a USB camera, keyboard, or printer. The upstream port is used to connect the monitor to a USB port on the computer.

The monitor should be turned on before the computer reaches the point in the startup process where it checks for USB devices.
