Uninstalling the modem in Windows 9x

  1. On your screen, locate and click the Start button. From the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. In Control Panel, double-click the System icon.

  2. In the System Properties dialog box, click the Device Manager tab.

  3. On the Device Manager tab, double-click Modem. Select U.S. Robotics 56K Win INT, and then click Properties.

  4. In the U.S. Robotics 56K Win INT Properties dialog box, click the Port Settings tab. Click the Uninstall button in the COM Port section.

  5. In the Confirm device removal dialog box, click OK.

  6. In the System dialog box, click OK. The removal is complete.

  7. While not required, it is advised to restart the computer.
