V.90 and V.34 are established ITU-T worldwide standards that ensure interoperability between different modems (i.e. X2 vs. 56K flex) |
| Fully upgradeable |
The WinModem is controlled entirely by a program, so adding features and changing functionality of the modem can be accomplished with a program. |
| Answering machine functionality |
With MegaPhone software, the modem can answer phone calls, take messages, and allows screening of calls. |
| Speakerphone capability |
The modem can act as full duplex speakerphone, allowing for "hands-free" operation.
|
| Caller ID with Megaphone |
Allows the user to see who is calling - requires Caller ID service from the local phone company |
Note: The U.S. Robotics 56 Kbps Voice WinModem requires a sound card in order to take advantage of current features, such as TAD and speakerphone. The sound card is also necessary to take advantage of features like whiteboarding and document sharing.
